On this course you will create, write and perform comedy characters, monologues and sketches for TV - filming a sketch comedy scene in City Lit’s well equipped TV studio. You will work on creating comic characters/ performing comic monologues and comedy sketches. You will learn the basics of acting for comedy, sketches, sitcoms, etc.
There may also be the opportunity to write and produce your own material.

About this course

Create comic characters
perform a comedy sketch and set up an effective dynamic between the characters.
Create and perform your own TV and radio comedy pieces.
Perform in a TV & radio studio environment.

No compulsory purchases. You may like to buy books, scripts, DVDs or CDs to further explore in your own time. Guidance will be given on worthwhile purchases for those interested. All you need bring is pen and paper.

We will study and discuss TV and radio comedy clips. Participants will write, devise and improvise in the sessions, in a safe environment with encouragement and support for newcomers. You will be script-edited and directed in writing and performance by your peers and the tutor.
In the session there will be a mix of exercises, games, improvisation and devising work, with the potential to develop your own work.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
