Day One
09:30 - Welcome, introductions and objectives
Agreeing how we will work together. Setting ground rules for how feedback is given and received. Briefing and preparation time for activity one - preparing a short, impromptu presentation.

10:00 - Activity one: diagnostic

Delivering your presentation. Structured analysis of the first impression you create. Video playback and feedback on core verbal and non-verbal presentational skills. Detailed analysis of your impact, presence and current style. Identifying your strengths and areas in which you can improve. ''Micro re-takes'' - giving you the opportunity to do ''take two'' on key moments of your presentation and to work on the feedback you have been given.

11:30 - Activity two: preparing for success.

Using a simple template to map out the unique context of the presentation you will deliver. Knowing who is in your audience - their background, professional discipline, level of knowledge, status, role and responsibilities etc. Mapping out the expectations, objectives and concerns they will bring to the room. Objective setting - knowing exactly what you want to achieve. Message definition - total clarity on your key and supporting messages. Structure - opening, development, closing, inductive and deductive approaches. Content - intellectual rigour, sequence, relevance. Texture - fact, analysis, summary, synthesis, evidence, statistics. Rehearsal - how to be in the best possible shape on the day. Personal preparation - attitude, dress, appearance. Logistics - timing, documentation, technology, administration.

12:00 - Activity three: using visual aids with confidence

Understanding how people process information. What visual aids are and how they work. Creating a powerful connection between what you are saying and what you are showing. Practical advice on how to maximise the impact of PowerPoint. Bringing variety to the visual information you present - graphics, charts, images, photographs. Directing the focus between you and the visual aids you use. Making sure you remain the centre of attention. How to get the best from speaker notes, presentation slides and slide-packs as supporting documentation.

12:15 - Activity four: taking space with confidence.

Delivering a professional introduction. Video playback and detailed feedback on how to convey authority, gravitas and personal impact. Practical advice on gesture, movement and posture. How to take focus (on yourself) and to give it (to the person you are introducing.) High-definition delivery - how to make every moment and every sentence count. Micro-retakes on those key moments to embed the learning.

13:45 - Activity five: the persuasive presenter
Delivering a presentation in which you need to influence and persuade. Video playback and detailed feedback. Building rapport and making connection. ''Setting out your stall'' - giving a clear indication of what your message is and of what you will be covering. Alignment with your audience - addressing their front-of-mind issues and concerns. Conveying a compelling, cogent and persuasive business case. Building consensus and getting agreement. Making a powerful connection with your audience. Addressing their different needs and perspective. Influencing skills - taking people with you and getting the result you want. Micro-retakes to embed the learning.

Day Two

09:30 - Activity six: presenting in teams
Impromptu team presentation to consolidate the learning and to work on key skills needed to present in teams. Each participant prepares and delivers a short presentation on one of their own developmental areas - fluency, impact, non-verbal communication and other key areas.

10:15 - Activity six: using your nerves

Diagnostic - why is this happening? Risk analysis and risk management. Ensuring you are risk-enabled. Getting yourself in shape to succeed - centred, self-aware and self-supportive. Welcoming the nerves, putting your demons on the payroll. Visioning techniques. Creating sound inner dialogues. Focus and concentration. A determination to come out of the bunker, to be in the public space. Openness, mindfulness, choosing to be there. Controlling the physical manifestations of nervous energy - and using that energy to get results.

10:45 - Activity seven: preparation time and one-to-one consultation

Each participant is given the opportunity to ask questions and to receive individual feedback and advice in a one-to-one session with the JSB consultant. Preparation time for your final presentation.

11:15 - Activity seven: handling questions and creating audience involvement

Overview of best practice in handling questions and creating a productive dialogue with your audience. Handling different categories of question - aggressive, emotional, factual, and unclear. Listening skills. Full attention listening to everything that is said. Understanding the question - and what lies behind the question. Handling conflict and different views and opinions. Building consensus and agreement. Summarising, synthesising, shaping and reflecting back. Using PREP - a powerful template for giving concise, cogent and persuasive answers to challenging questions.

12:00 - Activity eight: the main event

Bringing it all together. Delivering a business presentation of your choice - a conference speech, a sales pitch, presenting to the board, a seminar or speech - you decide. Video playback and detailed feedback on advanced presentation skills. Authenticity - being yourself with skill. Presence - being seen as credible and authoritative. Clarity - communicating your message with impact, avoiding ambiguity. Voice - tone, pitch, musicality, inflection. Pace - controlled, varied, effective. Energy - physical, vocal, mental and linguistic. Using visual aids. Connecting to your audience. Using and handling questions. Creating high-impact opening. Bringing your presentation to a climax. Micro-retakes to embed the learning. Lunch and informal group discussion of relevant presentation skills issues.

13:45 - Activity eight - the main event continued
17:00 - Action planning
Responding to any remaining questions and concerns you may have. Action planning. Creating a personal action plan to guide you in putting everything you have learnt into practice. You will be given the email address and mobile phone number of your JSB consultant - and are welcome to call them for free advice and support as you implement your action plan.
