This course gives you a basic understanding of what compression is and how it works. It will help you to make informed choices about which compression type best meets your needs. You will be introduced to various compression formats, and the media compression and encoding application Compressor. You will gain an essential understanding of how to compress your work differently for different needs including the internet, mobile devices and DVD.

About this course
- choose a setting in Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X to output your footage as a master movie file
- import footage into a compressor
- select an appropriate codec for your destination
- customise a codec setting for your own needs
- output footage to the web and DVD.
Our high definition cameras and the latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC-formatted hard drives can be read by Apple Mac computers, but not written to). CDs/DVDs are available.
