CompTIA's Linux+ certification is intended for "technicians with six months experience installing, operating and maintaining Linux operating systems." It is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification that makes a good starting point to higher level certifications, such as LPI, SAIR and RedHat.

CompTIA Linux+ is designed to measure your competencies of the Linux operating system. You will be able to provide basic installation, operation, administration and troubleshooting services for the Linux operating system on workstations and servers. Also required is the ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of computer hardware COMPTIA Linux+ Certification Requirements
This certification is well suited to network and system administrators, independent of what industry you work in. The Linux+ designation is achieved by passing one conventional format exam that "validates technical competency and provides a broad awareness of Linux operating systems." Certification never runs out.
