CBT Training
In 1990, the government introduced the CBT (compulsory basic training course) to reduce the number of incidents involving scooter and motorcyclists.
The CBT is not a test, it's a training course consisting of a number of theoretical and practical elements including a two hour instructor supervised road ride.
On sucessful completion of the course you will be issued with a DL196 certificate which entitles you to.
- 16 years old, you may ride a 50cc moped or scooter
- 17 years old or above, you may ride a 125cc motorcycle or scooter.
However the following restrictions apply:
- You must display L plate's front and rear at all times
- No passengers
- No motorway use
- A revalidation of your CBT certificate must be completed after two years unless you pass a practical motorcycle test.
Course Content:
- Protective clothing, helmet and gloves
- Scooter or Geared motorcycle
- Insurance.
The training takes place at our training centre at Mosshill Industrial Estate (MAP) and starts promptly at 9am and generally finishes at 4pm.
Unfortunately no licence no training.
