The Computational and Data Science and Engineering (CDSE) PhD program is one of the most successful PhD programs at Skoltech. Our PhD students publish numerous papers in high-rank Q1/Q2 journals and present the results of their work at reputable international conferences.
All PhD studentships in Skoltech are by default covered with a generous stipend of 75,000₽ in addition to health coverage for the duration of graduate studies, provided that academic standards are met, and progress towards a PhD degree is maintained. About this course
To be eligible to apply to CDSE PhD program, by the time of enrollment at Skoltech, the PhD candidates should hold or expect an MSc degree (or an equivalent like Specialist degree) from a recognized higher education institution and in the area of study that is relevant to the CDISE research group that the PhD candidate is looking for.
Three peer-reviewed publications, of which two appear in WoS/Scopus indexed journals/conference proceedings.
At least two publications in:
(i) Q1/Q2 journals in the corresponding fields or journals with impact factor (IF) 2,
(ii) conference proceedings having a CORE rating of A/A
In April 2020, the CDSE Doctoral program has been internationally accredited by Hcéres (High Council for Evaluation of Research and higher education) for a period of 5 years.

Course programme
Computational and Data Science and Engineering is a 4-year full-time Doctoral program comprising 240 ECTS credits:
30 ECTS credits of coursework:- 12 ECTS credits of coursework for advanced major-field courses
- 18 ECTS credits for general doctoral courses
- 201 ECTS credits of research and thesis preparation (192 ECTS credits), thesis proposal defense (6 ECTS credits), professional experience as a pedagogical activity (3 ECTS credits)
- 3 ECTS credits of PhD qualifying exam
- 6 ECTS credits of PhD thesis defense
1 ECTS credit = 27 hours x 60 minutes
