You'll learn to understand the theoretical principles underlying a problem, and how to engineer a solution. You'll also become familiar with the practical issues involved in developing reliable, effective software systems in business or industry.

If your qualifications do not include the subjects we look for, the Foundation Year will give you a grounding in maths and either physics or chemistry to prepare you for the degree. After the first year, your course follows the structure for our standard degree programmes.

You'll learn to program, think analytically, work in a team and develop your communication skills. In the final year, you'll take some Advanced Research Topics - modules based around an area of staff research - and have the chance to work in our student-run software company.
