This innovative course aims to address the growing, persistent demand for skilled graduates with an expertise in the area of computer security. You will examine all manner of issues relating to computer security, including systems used to transmit the data between locations, how to build robust systems able to defend themselves against attack and how to respond to new emerging threats.

About this course







Through studying this course you will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding, knowledge and experience of the principles, practice and applications of security. You will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of computer hardware and software with particular reference to security, applying appropriate theory, tools and techniques to the security development process.
You will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of the essential facts, concepts, principles, theories and practices in the area, enabling graduate employment in security. You will also develop a range of transferable skills in problem solving, communication, project management, self-management and direction as well as the ability to gather, synthesise, evaluate and reflect on information from relevant sources. You will also be able to demonstrate a range of social, legal, ethical and professional skills required for continuing professional development in security, worldwide.

A Foundation Degree or HND in Computing or related subject
Successful completion of the Foundation Degree (Science) Computing at Telford College of Arts and Technology

Course programme

You will engage with a range of learning activities including lectures, tutorials, workshops and on-line forums and in-class discussions. The learning activities on your course will help you develop distinctive graduate attributes that will make you stand out and enhance your employability. These skills will be embedded into the curriculum throughout your course.

You will examine all manner of issues relating to computer security, including systems used to transmit the data between locations, how to build robust systems able to defend themselves against attack and how to respond to new emerging threats.

There will be an opportunity to computer security skills IT risk analyst, and to examine how IT security can be managed and countermeasures applied.

Our course is flexible enough to allow you pursue an area of particular interest to you such as network security or the management of database servers.
