This course will provide you with a range of practical skills and knowledge to enable you to work in a variety of computing/IT professions. It provides a broad foundation in website design, website management, systems implementation and networks.
Focusing on employability skills within the IT industry you will gain valuable experience working within local companies on a variety of IT projects, while developing the academic skills needed to cope with a rapidly moving environment.
The foundation degree provides an excellent stepping stone to allow you to move directly into a career in Computing or to move easily onto a full honours degree programme.

About this course
At the end of the course, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the essential facts, concepts, principles and practices relating to computing.
You will be able to apply a range of technical and methodological skills relevant to the design and development of computer systems.
You will apply a range of professional skills and techniques, personal qualities, attributes and global responsibilities essential for successful performance in the computing industry.
There will be ample opportunity to demonstrate the development of generic transferable skills such as problem solving, communication, working individually and in teams.

You will gain a thorough grounding in the essential skills of programming, computer systems and systems design and development.
There will be ample opportunities to undertake independent investigations and group projects. You will gain essential employability skills and have the opportunity to put these into practice.
You will further develop your skills in website design and management, project management and network concepts and techniques. In addition, you will work on projects both in industry and within the college.
