Introduction:

The Housing Acts state that dwellings must “be free from dampness prejudicial to the health of the occupants”. Worries about possible with damp and condensation, and related health issues are frequent issues for tenants.

Aims:

By the end of this course you will know how to accurately assess buildings for different types damp. You will know how moisture affects different building materials and how to correctly use and interpret results from moisture meters. You will know how to assess condensation problems and recommend effective remedies. You will be able to identify when the problem is rising damp, assess the performance damp proof courses and understand different types and uses of chemical damp proof courses.

Designed for:

Staff who are required to deal with these issues must have a good technical understanding of damp in dwellings -- the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and cures.
