The aim of the course is to give training and practical assessment for those persons who need to plan, implement and work to safe working procedures and entry permits for confined space entry. Suitable for: The course has been produced for individuals and teams who are required to undertake vertical entries into confined spaces such as deep manholes wet wells underground pumping stations excavations culvert sewers large vessels bridges and for those who have a need to meet standards laid sown by the water and chemical industries.

MEASUREMENT OF ACHIEVEMENT
A certificate valid for a period of 3 years and identity card will be issued to the successful candidate after demonstrating his/her ability to carry out the whole course objectives during practical and theoretical; assessment.

PURPOSE
To enable participants to work safely in confined spaces.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course the participant should be able to: -

  • Identify any hazards and associated risks involved when entering confined spaces.
  • Understand the current legislation and codes of practice aimed at confined space entry.
  • Implement control measures such as ventilation - gas detection and monitoring to eliminate and reduce potential risks.
  • Select, inspect, use and store, appropriate gas detection equipment.
  • Check use and respond to the appropriate gas detection equipment.Understand and work to entry permits and safe working procedures.
  • Implement emergency procedures.
  • Work as a member of a team.
  • Inspect, clean and use escape breathing apparatus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Delegates should also be aware that due to the type of training involved clothes may become soiled, and it is therefore advisable to wear suitable protective clothing.
