The course aims to give aspiring book repairers a taste of basic paper conservation techniques. It will provide
students with a practical presentation of, and a chance to trial, some simple procedures they can use on their own
books or develop in one of the Book Conservation courses offered by City Lit.

About this course
- Describe types of damage to paper leaves and approaches to repair.
- Identify and use basic repair tools and materials.
- Identify and carry out at least two methods of repairing paper in books.
- Ascertain appropriate level Bookbinding courses at City Lit for further study.
All materials will be provided, including books to practise on although you may wish to bring your own, non-
valuable, book (such as an old paperback) on which to practise the techniques shown .If you would like to buy
