The Intermediate Apprenticeship offers a practical approach and a solid platform for anyone wishing to develop a career in bricklaying and masonryWe believe the future of research lies in breaking down traditional barriers between academic disciplines so the bigger problems of the 21st century can be considered from human as well as physical perspectives. We have a number of interdisciplinary research themes, which fit closely with international research priorities.

Course programme

You will gain a range of practical skills and knowledge such as cavity walling and setting and building basic masonry structures up to damp course level. Progression to subjects such as interpreting drawings to set out masonry structures, thin joint masonry, masonry cladding and building solid walling will follow. You will demonstrate safe working practices and will gain an in-depth understanding of health and safety, construction technology and building methods. This will provide evidence towards a framework of qualifications which make up the apprenticeship including the Level 2 Diploma and NVQ Diploma. It will also show your competence, knowledge, understanding of business tasks and procedures and prove you are able to carry out your job to the required standard.
