Attendance:
One day per week is the minimum requirement, to support the ACA theory and practical training.
It is recommended that candidates have achieved the ICA and NVQ2 in Decorative occupations or have achieved a minimum of two GCSE at grade C or above in Maths, English or science based subjects Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment set by the Construction Industrial Training Board. Candidates must be in current employed within the Painting and Decorating industry.
Content
This training will develop practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed so that they meet National Standards at NVQ level 3, providing opportunity to develop the organisational and practical skills needed with the trade area covering such aspects as, health and safety, confirm work activities and resources, confirm the occupational method of work, hang wall covering to complex surfaces and advanced decorative effects.
Assessment
Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments. Completion of a portfolio of evidence from assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ standards.
Progression Once completed candidates can progress onto a HNC or Supervisory programme Framework
- Technical Certificate - An appropriate Level 3 award such as the Advanced Construction Award (ACA) in Painting and Decorating
- Key Skills - Application of Number Level 2 and Communication Level 2
- NVQ Level 3 Qualification - Painting and Decorating
