About this course
It is recommended that candidates have achieved the ICA and NVQ2 in trowel occupations or have achieved a minimum of two GCSE at grade C or above in Maths, English or science based subjects Candidates will require an interview and complete a skills assessment set by the Construction Industrial Training Board. Candidates must be in current employed within the brickwork industry.

Attendance:
One day per week is the minimum requirement, to support the ACA theory and practical training.
Content
This training will develop practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to allow candidates to demonstrate a level of competence and be assessed so that they meet National Standards at NVQ level 3, providing opportunity to develop the organisational and management skills needed with the trade covering area such as, health and safety, setting out and building, build to line, various brick bonds, building piers and corner building, cavity walling, block-work and openings, set out complex masonry structures on various ground situations, Erect complex masonry structures including arches, curves, chimneys and decorative features
Assessment Candidates will be assessed through the use of examinations, practical and theory assignments.
Completion of a portfolio of evidence from assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ.
Progression
Once complete candidates can progress onto a HNC or Site Supervisory programme.
