Course programme
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction has 18 units in total, 9 of which will have been completed at the Subsidiary Diploma level.
This is a natural progression from the Subsidiary Diploma course to teach you many aspects of construction from design technology, building surveying, construction management, maths, health and safety, planning and organisation, valuation etc.
All 9 units are marked on a task basis (a total of 18 units must be completed over the Subsidiary and Extended Diplomas) and you will be expected to produce this work using a word processor. Potential grades are: Pass, Merit and Distinction. An external verifier visits the college and your work is randomly examined for accuracy of marking and quality of work.
We have 6 compulsory units:
1 Health, Safety and Welfare; 2 Sustainable Construction; 3 Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment; 4 Science and Materials in Construction; 5 Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering; 6 Building Technology in Construction.
