Overview
This course provides an introduction to various aspects of consumer law from the perspective of both the consumer and the business and includes up to date developments such as changes to the Doorstep Selling Regulations and in particular the newly implemented Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. With emphasis on a commercially sound and compliant approach to Consumer Law the course will involve a series of practical exercises analysing each of the areas covered.
Topics covered on this course will include:
- Implied terms in consumer contracts - title, description, satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and reasonable care and skill
- Remedies available to consumers under the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002
- Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts - Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulation 1999
- Overview of the Consumer Credit regime
- Distance selling regulations
