Course programme

This home study course is a practical 'how-to' guide to using counselling and guidance skills. Many people who are not professional counsellors find themselves called upon to provide counselling, help and guidance.

In ten, informative modules, the course provides a clear introduction to the skills involved. It will show you exactly what helping others entails and what personal qualities are needed. Whether you want to develop counselling skills for use in your current job, or would like to go on to further study, this is the course for you.

Study topics include:

  • active listening;
  • interpreting body language;
  • beginnings and endings;
  • the ethics of helping.

You will be asked to complete a wide range of activities during the course, which will help you to put what you have learned into practice. Includes all study materials, textbook, Basic Counselling Skills, and full tutorial support.
