By the end of this course delegates will be familiar with and able to present sessions in the following topics: Definition of terrorism and terrorist. History of terrorism and affects. What is an IED?. Different types of explosive devices and methods employed by terrorists Counter terror organisations. Contingency and emergency planning. Threat assessment and management. Risk reduction measures to reduce threat. Importance of incident management planning. Post attack or incident considerations. Suitable for: Trainers with a minimum level 3 training qualification and experience of security, armed forces, police etc who wish to deliver Counter Terrorism Awareness to others. Delegates will be assessed on their ability to teach the subjects and will then be given the materials to deliver this programme to others.

In today’s world, terrorism awareness and prevention, coupled with training, is becoming ever more vital. All of us have a part to play in ensuring that our businesses and working environments can continue to operate with a greater degree of safety.

This course enables trainers with a level 3 teaching qualification to teach others in recognising the threat of Counter Terrorism.

The programme explores the different methods and weapons used to carry out terrorist attacks, the motivating factors of terrorism and recognising indicators of a potential terrorist.

Phase one consists of an on-line programme covering:

· Definition of terrorism and terrorist

· History of terrorism and affects

· What is an IED

· Different types of explosive devices and methods employed by terrorists

· Counter terror organisations

· Contingency and emergency planning

· Threat assessment and management

· Risk reduction measures to reduce threat

· Importance of incident management planning

· Post attack or incident considerations

Phase two requires 2 days in the classroom which involves the trainer developing and presenting 2 micro teach sessions from the above materials. Delegates will be assessed on their knowledge of the subject matter.

On completion of this course delegates will be issued with an approved trainer certificate valid for 2 years after which they will need to do a re-assessment. All successful delegates will be given a CD-Rom containing the materials to enable them to deliver their own courses.
