Django is the most popular free web application framework for Python that enables Web Developers to develop database driven interactive websites quickly, securely and efficiently. Sites such as Instagram, Mozilla Firefox, Pinterest and NASA have used Django to develop their web presence.On this course you will learn how to create your own database driven website through developing an online survey. You will also learn the basics of Structured Query Language (SQL) to create, manage and query your own database using the popular SQLite database. In addition you will learn how to use the Command Line Prompt in Windows to manage your project, create HTML forms and use Regular expressions to manage your webpage links.

About this course

By the end of this course you should be able to...- Use the command prompt to manage a Django web project- Create an online survey application- Use SQL to create, manipulate and search a database- Learn the HTML to create web forms- Learn to use regular expressions and how a Django project uses them.

All the software used on the course is freely downloadable for home use but you may want to bring a USB key, pen and notepad for note taking. Computers are provided for each student.

Course programme

Use the Command Line - You will learn how to navigate and create directories, delete and copy files all from the Command Prompt.

Create a Web Application - You will build an online survey application the results of which are displayed on a web page.

Build and manage a Database - Using SQLite and SQLiteStudio you will learn to create, manage and query your own database and learn how Django manages data submitted from a web page.

Produce HTML forms - You will create HTML form controls, including text boxes, radio buttons, checkboxes and buttons to enable a user to fill in an online survey.

Use Regular Expressions - A regular expression is a text string that describes a text pattern, e.g. the structure of a postcode or email address. It has many uses outside of Django and can be used for such vital tasks as form validation.
