What will I learn?

The BTEC Level 1 Diploma for IT & Creative Media Productions includes Improving Productivity and a wide selection of optional units which cover a diverse range of standard professional computer software Video, Computer Gaming, Digital Graphics & Audio are just some of the range of skills that will be developed on the course Improving Productivity Using IT is mandatory for the Level 1 qualification; all other units are selected from the wide range of units available within the qualification All students will study Maths and English at an appropriate level Employability skills are incorporated in to the qualification with up-to-date and current information about possible career paths

How will I be assessed?

Clear assessment: There are no tests or formal examinations except in English and Maths The units are highly practical with the emphasis on 'doing' rather than writing about

What may it lead to?

Students will develop skills in a wide range of industry standard software to enable progression on to Level 2 or employment Other progression routes available to the learner on successful completion of a BTEC level 1 qualification can include: BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT & Creative Media Productions, Alternative Diplomas courses available at Canterbury College (Swale Campus), Apprenticeships, Junior/trainee employment

Entry Requirements

Ideally the student will have some GCSE's or may already have alternative qualifications This may not always be the case so an interview and initial assessment with members of the team will assess if the student is suitable for the programme of study

Work Experience

Enrichment opportunities will include visits & activities involving work experience and training with Sheppey FM radio which will develop skills in radio broadcasting and a behind the scenes trip to Bluewater

Additional Information & Other Costs

A portable hard drive will also be required as media work will need to be frequently saved
