Creative Writing for Beginners

This course is suitable for beginners. The focus will be on fiction, non fiction and poetry. Areas of study may include: discussions, short writing exercises, critical analysis and revision of work. Students will learn by putting into practice the skills that are shown. By examining the work of successful authors, students will be encouraged to develop their own style.The course will help students to understand: * Structure and shape of narrative writing. * Poetic forms and genres of fiction. * Strategies to convey mood, plot, conflict characterisation and dialogue. * Adopt a critical and constructive approach toward the work. * Necessary critical abilities required to revise their own work. A College Certificate will be awarded on request. There are no formal assessments for this course.
