Be able to recognize the requirements imposed by PUWER and appreciate their impact Know the interrelationship between the PUWER Regs and the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and other relevant Regulations and advice available Be aware of the guarding and fencing requirements for basic types of machinery Know the requirements for Abrasive Wheels Have an understanding of Fencing and Interlocks Know the need for safe Maintenance systems - Isolation/making safe - Competent Person - Permit to Work systems and Authorized Persons and Training Inspection systems and keeping records Be able to appreciate the need for assessments, systems and record keeping. Appreciate the need to keep up to date with changing methods and standards Have a picture of how enforcing authorities expect the Regulations to be carried out
