The course is about using different techniques to photograph changing lighting circumstances, and practising these on location in places that offer dramatic changes in lighting between day and night. It will develop your technical skills and confidence with expert guidance on long exposures, white balance, choosing a lens, planning a shoot, and processing your images.

About this course

- produce a series of images demonstrating different lighting
- demonstrate safe working procedure in public
- identify the optimum time for photographing at night
- plan your shoot to maximise the lighting opportunities.

Please bring your digital camera. You may wish to bring some images on a memory stick for discussion, and a pen and notebook as you are encouraged to take notes. City Lit has digital SLR cameras and tripods you may borrow during lesson time.

Course programme

- Uploading images to Adobe Bridge and checking focus.

Through a structured programme of lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises on location and image-based discussions. The photography studio uses a computer projector for presentations and viewing of images. Each student will have their own computer to work on.
