To give participants a comprehensive understanding of issues surrounding mental health problems for those with hearing impairments. It is based upon the 'Towards equality and Access Report' and will cover definitions of deafness, prevalence of mental health problems within this particular client group, in conjunction with psychological impacts of hearing loss. Suitable for: People working within mental health, social care, adolescent, education or mainstream services that come into direct contact with this client group.

Aim

This course is interactive; it aims for participants to discuss, acknowledge and identify positive methods and skills to work effectively with those who have a dual diagnosis of mental ill health and hearing impairments.

This course is delivered by a trainer who has herself, a hearing impairment and associated mental health problems, working full time within the hearing impairment team.

A hearing loop will be available during this training.
