Course programme

The aim of this course is to provide a skilled response to anyone who is found to be requiring defibrillation. Defibrillation can increase the chances of those who have suffered a fatal collapse and are unable to effectively maintain their own life due to accidents, injury, health issues or heart problems. Training in the use of the defibrillator is essential for any staff who have a defibrillation machine in their work environment.

This Defibrillation course is a full one day course and is assessed on site by a Qualified First Aid Instructor. The trainers are also qualified to teach in the Life long sector and have a minimum of a PTTLS award. The trainers are also experts in their field and are able to give support to those lacking in confidence in their abilities. We aim to ensure that all our delegates leave the course feeling confident in their abilities to deal with CPR and using the defibrillation machine.

To attend the course, those wishing to attend must demonstrate through an up to date certificate that they have completed the minimum of the 1 day emergency First Aid at work course. The certificates must be provided prior to attending the course. The attendees will be required to demonstrate their skills in Basic Life support as an initial assessment on arrival which will be assessed by the Instructor. This will give a good indication of the level of skill in this area and any concerns or confidence issues can be addressed during the course work.

Certification for the course is given on assessed competency and will be sent to attendees after the course has been successfully completed and the attendee has been deemed competent in their practice of Basic Life Support / Emergency Response and using the training defibrillator machine. Those who are not deemed competent will be required to complete the course again.

The subject areas will include refreshing attendee’s knowledge of Basic Life Support/ Emergency response.
