Course programme
Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Europe, affecting about 700,000 individuals a year. Many victims of sudden cardiac arrest can survive if bystanders act immediately; electrical defibrillation is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest. The chance of survival diminishes by between 7-10% for every minute the casualty does not receive defibrillation.
This 3½ hour course is aimed at individuals who are responsible for using the AED defibrillation equipment. It is ideal for individuals who have had no previous training on the AED defibrillation or for those that require refresher training.
The course covers:
- The Assessment and Management of a collapsed patient
- CPR Skills
- The Technology of AED and defibrillation
- The practice management of the patient in cardiac arrest with CPR and early defibrillation.
- The course is assessed by a multi choice exam and a practical skills test.
Successful candidates receive a certificate of attendance which is valid for 12 months
