Course programme
This training program is designed to ensure that staff members who are involved in any form of direct care are familiar with the different types of dementia and how each form of the disease impacts differently on a person. At the end of the course, staff will understand enough about dementia to choose the safest, most dignified and respectful approach when delivering care.
Learning outcomes and objectives
- To be able to define dementia (introduction).
- To learn about the different types of dementia (introduction).
- To appreciate how dementia affects a person (introduction).
- To learn some of the best communication strategies (introduction).
- To understand the value of a person-centred approach in care.
Half day courses usually run from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. / 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.
