At Tate Modern we will explore the work of a wide variety of artists, such as Pablo Picasso, Pierre Bonnard, Joan Miro, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Louise Bourgeois, and Bruce Nauman, as well as thinking about some of the most important art movements and tendencies since 1900. The day will include discussions on Cubism versus realism, international surrealism, the ‘pioneers’ of abstraction and abstract Expressionism, photography, conceptual art, and sculpture. We will reflect on the connections that curators are making between different themes and artworks.
We will also consider the role of the Tate Modern in the wider art world, along with the role of key individuals (such as curators, collectors and critics) and institutions (such as other public art galleries and well-known art awards).
