This apprenticeship could see you working alongside a dentist to give support and care for the patients. So if you are a good communicator, like working in a team and can follow direction then this could be the apprenticeship for you. Apprentices who qualify in dental nursing will work in a general dental practice, undertaking a variety of supervised tasks. Your duties will be to support the dentist in all aspects of patient care, including getting instruments ready, mixing materials and ensuring patient comfort. You will learn about taking notes from the dentist’s dictation, decontaminating the surgery and the instruments. The role of a dental nurse is regulated by the General Dental Council (GDC) and you will have to register with the GDC upon satisfactory completion of the Apprenticeship.
