2. Course description Could you see yourself creating exquisite items of jewellery, fashion accessories and creative forms of body adornment? Would you like to work with metals, plastics or ceramics and learn highly skilled methods of creating innovative new forms of jewellery? If you're passionate about making things, have a flair for the creative and an entrepreneurial spirit, then this Level 3 Diploma in designing and making jewellery could be the ideal course for you, giving you the skills and knowledge you'll need for a successful career in this industry. You'll explore a wide range of materials, techniques and processes that are essential to the craft of jewellery making, advancing your skills and pushing your creative ability. You'll learn about metal texturing, manipulation and forming, as well as looking at hot & cold joining methods. For advanced product manufacture, you'll also explore etching, wax carving & casting techniques, alongside basic stone setting. As part of the course, you'll learn from specialist staff and complete a live enterprise brief, where you'll work in teams to create pieces for a Pop-Up Shop. Your work will be creative, innovative and contemporary, and with a diploma from the University of the Arts London Awarding Body - the only specialist creative arts awarding body in the UK - you'll have the skills and experience to continue onto more specialised study and a career in jewellery making.

3. Entry requirements To enrol on this Level 3 Diploma in Jewellery Design, you'll need to have four GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths or English. You can also progress from the Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design with a merit grade profile. Adult learners may also gain entry to the course without these qualifications providing they can demonstrate an ability to cope with the demands of study based on their previous experience, commitment, interest and ability. We'll discuss these with you at an interview. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method In the early part of the course, you will build your skills in all areas of study and will receive assessment feedback, both part way through and at the end of each project. This will give you constructive advice to help you improve your performance. Your final grade will be assessed through a final major project. As part of the continuous assessment, you'll be expected to study outside of designated art and design studio sessions, attend exhibitions and galleries and do further contextual reading, all of which requires an additional commitment outside of normal course hours.
