Developing the Work Team

The purpose of this course is to develop Team Leaders understanding of how to develop their team. Participants will gain knowledge to help them understand the nature of teams and the features of team roles and responsibilities including the advantages and disadvantages. How to identify training needs of a group or team and how those needs may be met will also be explored.

The course will include:

ü Definition of a workplace team and how it differs from a group.

ü Advantages and disadvantages of teams in the workplace.

ü Examples of typical team structures.

ü Tuckman's model of team development - forming, storming, norming and performing.

ü An outline of team roles and responsibilities and how to use this in leading the team.

ü Impact of change upon the team.

ü Basic training needs analysis for group and individuals.

ü How to identify practical opportunities for training and resource requirements.

ü Simple job instruction techniques.
