This course is about how we can make exciting contemporary theatre through collaborative processes - a practical course for performers, directors and for anyone who wants to nurture their creativity. Instead of working from a play, 'devising' creates the whole world of the performance from scratch. Devising is the method of creation used by some of today’s most important theatre makers including Theatre de Complicite, Punchdrunk, Forced Entertainment and Robert Lepage.

Course programme
We will look at key steps in the devising process - coming up with the initial idea, creating physical work, creating text, finding a style of work and putting a show together. We will also touch on how you get funding and opportunities to show work.
Most of our work will be practical though we will spend time discussing the work we make. Sometimes you will work in pairs, sometimes in small groups and at other times as a large ensemble.
