This Diet and Nutrition for Children Level 3 course teaches students how to assess and plan for the diets and nutritional needs of children and young people. Within this very important subject you will learn how failing to meet the nutritional needs of children in various stages of development impacts upon the progress of a child and how adults can promote healthy eating to ensure children meet nutritional guidelines to support their growth and development.

Unit 3: Key Nutrients and Vitamins

  • Understand the benefits and limitations of key nutrients
  • Explain the characteristics of non-nutrient foods
  • Describe the balance of good health

Unit 4: Nutritional Guidelines and Meal Planning

  • Identify the recommended daily allowances
  • Improve nutrition in children
  • Reduce health problems in children
  • Plan healthy meals and snacks

Unit 5: Digestion and Food Labelling

Assessments

To pass this course learners must pass 6 assignments. These are completed after navigating through the corresponding lessons and writing your answers to assignment questions. Once these have been read and marked by your personal tutor, feedback and marks are provided to students which contain helpful tips to improve work in future assignments.
