You’ll gain a strong foundation in programming, software development and contemporary themes in the industry. The course will give you a broad overview of computer science with opportunities to develop specific skills relevant to your role with specially developed units.

You'll study online, off campus, through the use of our virtual learning environment, which will include weekly webinars and online collaboration tools. Occasional on-campus sessions and examinations will help you progress and give you the chance to meet your peers and academics in the department.

This course is designed to fit with the requirement for apprenticeships to spend at least 20% of your time (1-2 days a week) on off-the-job training. A typical week will involve two online webinars and the rest of your available time spent on other course content, including independent study. You'll spend the rest of your week embedding your new knowledge on-the-job with your current employer.

Towards the end of the course, you will complete an individual project and e-portfolio over summer before a final End Point Assessment.

About this course

When you have successfully completed the End Point Assessment, you will graduate with an MSc in Computer Science and pass the degree apprenticeship. As a graduate, you'll have gained an array of skills in areas such as programming, software engineering and databases. This will help you to progress further in your career.

IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components
The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 62 with no less than 59 in any element
TOEFL IBT: 90 overall with a minimum 21 in all 4 components
If you need to improve your English language skills before starting your studies, you may be able to take a pre-sessional course to reach the required level.
