Adobe Animate CC (formerly known as Flash) is widely used by professional animators and combines traditional methods of drawn and cut-out animation with the added benefit of a digital work-flow. Learn the how to create exciting traditional and experimental animations using this professional and accessible software.

About this course

- Use the drawing tools in Animate CC
- Create drawn animations using keyframes
- Create animations using tweening to animate transformations
- Import video and images into Animate CC for reference and Rotoscoping
- Import sound and synch sound to animation in Animate CC
- Export animated sequences.

There are no additional costs. It may be useful to bring a memory stick or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to. You will be advised on how to use a free online storage drive too if this is preferable.

Course programme

- Professional contemporary examples of Animations using Animate CC
- Digital hand drawing using the Animate drawing tools and a Wacom tablet
- Importing images and movie clips into Animate
- Creating keyframes
- Creating Symbols
- Different forms of tweening
- Importing and using sound files
- Syncing sound and image
- Exporting work as animated movies.

You will be taught using a range of techniques including short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Digital arts, Film, Animation, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design. Homework can be set but is not compulsory. It is recommended that to get the best out of the course you have the software installed on your own computer to enable you to practise techniques outside of the lessons. You can download a trial version of the program, and may qualify for a student license of the software at a reduced price. Please check the Adobe website: to find out if may be eligible.
