2. Course description This one year programme is an introduction to the Early Years sector for students who may want to work with children in the future and aims to give the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed for caring for children. You will also develop communication skills and self-awareness. The Units studied will include:- Healthy Eating for Families- Human Growth and Development- Respecting and Valuing Children This course is a credit based qualification and will help you to improve English and Maths as well as Personal and Social Development and appropriate Vocational Learning.

3. Entry requirements Whilst formal qualifications are not essential you will need to provide a satisfactory school reference and undertake a successful interview and an initial assessment. It would be helpful to demonstrate evidence of previous successful study which could include a GCSE qualification at Grade D - G or equivalent. Students who do not possess a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English will be required to complete functional skills in both subjects alongside their Diploma in Caring for Children. 4.
