Diploma In Carpentry & Joinery Level 1

All persons interested in a career in Carpentry or Joinery. All applicants will be required to attend an interview to ascertain their suitability for the course.

Grade C - F in Maths and English. It is expected that applicants will have a genuine interest in Carpentry and the Construction Industry. All students will undertake initial assessments before starting the course.

This course will allow you to gain a Level 1 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.

There are 6 units of study:

• Using basic wood joining techniques
• Maintenance and use of woodworking hand tools
• Preparation and use of power tools
• Know and carry out safe working practices
• Quantities and communicating with others 1
• Building methods and construction technology 1

Key Skills will also be studied.

Students will need to wear suitable protective boots during all practical sessions.

The course is classroom, Learning Resource Centre and workshop based.

The award is assessed in college and classrooms, and learners will be required to undergo an external knowledge test. Key Skills will also be studied depending on the level of the student.

After successful completion of your course you will be able to continue your studies on a Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry.
