IPAF Category 1b Course

A 1 day course giving both theoretical and practical understanding of powered access (Category 1b, Vehicle & Trailer mounted Booms). There is a theory and practical test element to this course.Each successful candidate will be issued with a card and certificate which is valid for 5 years.

Course duration from 8.45am to 4.30pm approximately. Candidates should aim to arrive 15 minutes before this.

Our objective is that following the course the candidate;

will have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.

will be aware of accident control and prevention.

will be aware of the need for personal protective equipment.

will know how to drive and safely manoeuvre a machine as required to a correct position and carry out a nominated task.

The candidate will also be able to carry out a thorough pre-use inspection and be aware of and know how to operate the auxiliary or manual descent procedure.

LOLER regulations applicable to the equipment and operator

Afternoon session

: - Operators daily pre-use inspection of the equipment

Prep machine for road travel (vehicle/trailer mounted only)

Setting machine up for use on site

Practical demonstration and coaching session

All candidates must be at least 16 years old and be in possession of the following;

1. Full body Safety harness with fall restraint lanyard (available from £69.95 each, plus VAT) c/w current inspection certificate.

2. Safety Glasses / Goggles

3. Hardhat with chin strap

4. Safety footwear

5. High Visibility Vest or Coat

6. Suitable foul weather clothing as some of the training may take place outdoors
