Diploma in Education & Training Level 5 LocationCranford Avenue Course Overview Apply Now This course is an 'in service' qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers or trainers in England. To study towards the qualification, you need to have access to 100 hours of teaching. You will be able to take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning, while also embedding theories and principles in education and training, and demonstrate them in practice. You will also carry out research into professionalism in education and training policies, and consider their impact on your role and accountability as a teacher or trainer.

There are no formal entry requirements. Course Content You will provide evidence that you have met the qualification criteria in a number of ways including: • Assignments - evidence the knowledge based assessment criteria • Practice - through a minimum of 100 hours of teaching or training and a minimum of eight hours teaching or training observations (if you have achieved the Certificate in Education and Training Level 4, you can transfer 20 hours of practice and two hours of observed and assessed practice towards this qualification). Observations are linked to the following mandatory units: • Teaching learning and assessment (L4) • Developing teaching, learning and assessment (L5) How will I be assessed? Assessment is completed through assignment work, lesson observation and recorded teaching hours covering four mandatory units and the remaining 45 credits from optional units. • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training (L4, 20 credits) • Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training (L5, 20 credits) • Theories, principles and models in education and training (L5, 20 credits) • Wider professional practice and development in education and training (L5, 15 credits) Optional units could include: • Inclusive practice • Action research • Teaching in a specialist area You will build a portfolio of evidence which: • enables each unit to be assessed independently • shows that you have taken part in a minimum of 30 hours of practice, three house of observed and assessed practice which meets the required standard of practice. Progression By gaining this qualification you will be able to apply for teacher and trainer roles in further education and skills learning environments in England. You can also progress into specialist units within the initial teacher training suite of qualifications. Fees £1150 per year. All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain.
