On successful completion you may progress to employment in Art and Design industries or to HND courses on Lurgan campus in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design, 3D Design and Photography, after which you may progress to the BA (Hons) Degree in Creative Imaging, also on Lurgan Campus. Alternatively students may choose to progress to other Higher Education Institutions. DIPLOMA IN FOUNDATION STUDIES IN ART AND DESIGN (FOUNDATION ART)
Who is this course for?
The aim of the course is to introduce you to a wide variety of Art and Design based activities leading to specialisms. The course includes educational visits to cultural centres where students are given the opportunity to view and evaluate the work of contemporary and historical artists and designers.
Individual students are given the opportunities to work on realistic industrial commissions and projects. The Foundation Art course is an exciting and challenging experience and, in many cases, an essential qualification when applying for very highly competitive Degree courses.
The course is designed to prepare your portfolio for university interview whilst providing direction on the wide variety of specialist disciplines. The goal of the programme is to provide creative groundwork that will enable students to discover their own strengths and talents. You will be required to present a portfolio demonstrating aptitude in Art and Design at interview.

1 year full-time or 2 years part-time.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed on a modular basis. You will display work in exhibition or portfolio format for assessment and the work is graded pass, merit or distinction.
