Course programme
This programme is for childcare workers who are employed in a senior position, for example, manager, deputy manager or lead practitioner. You will receive underpinning knowledge on an individual or small group basis relating to the requirements for the assessment of the units and receive assessments in your place of work. All of the assessments are planned on an individual basis and these vary according to your role within the workplace.
Entry requirementsYou must be 19 years of age or over and be able to study at a Level 5 and be employed in a residential children's establishment as a senior practitioner/manager. You must be proficient in literacy and numeracy.
You must undertake an interview and have two satisfactory references.
This is a two-year course, although some students complete their studies well within this timeframe.
How will I be assessed?This Level 5 diploma consists of a variety of units which are assessed either by being observed in practice in the setting or are knowledge-based set written assignments.
Evidence for each unit is gathered using a selection of different methods including being observed in practice by an allocated assessor, answering written questions and producing written evidence of practice and knowledge.
