With a background briefing at City Lit in the morning and a guided walk in Regent's Park in the afternoon,you will discover the history, exuberant planting, sculptures and design of this fabulous Royal Park dating from the early 19th century. Special trees will be highlighted.

If you already have any books or leaflets about the parks, or a tree identification book, you may like to bring these along.

As stated above,please bring an A-Z of London and tube map, strong walking shoes, raincoat, and umbrella as the walk takes place whatever the weather.

Course programme

The history of Regent's Park
Regent's Park: its sculptures and design
Regent's Park: its plants and trees.

The morning session will be at the City Lit, where there will be a background briefing on the park. You will be provided with a park map and directions on how to reach the park independently. We will then meet at the park after lunch for a walk. We may not finish the walk where we started, but information and further directions will be provided. If you are unclear about the travel, please let the tutor know before leaving the City Lit. The walks will be slow and leisurely, and involve 10-15 mins standing Please bring an A-Z of London and tube map, strong walking shoes, raincoat, and umbrella as the walk takes place whatever the weather.
