Chapbooks were historically, a cheap way of distributing popular stories, poems and songs.. Sometimes know as ‘penny dreadfuls’, they were printed on cheap paper and often illustrated with woodcuts. More recently, chapbooks and pamphlets have reappeared as a popular vehicle by which writers can distribute samples of their work and there are now many independent publishers who produce chapbooks yearly. On this course, we will make a series of chapbooks using a range of materials and DIY print processes to bring your content to life, one of which will be produced in an edition.
