Dog Grooming

Run's for two days a week for eight weeks.

Day 1 to 4
Introductory days. Covering tools, equipment, shampoos, bathing and drying, different breeds and coat types and techniques to achieve a well prepared dog.

Days 5 to 8
As bathing and drying are the most important part of the grooming process you will continue with this but will also be introduced to nail clipping and ear cleaning as well as learning and identifying health problems to be reported back to the owner.

You will start to use clippers and various scissors to learn correct techniques and gain more hands on experience in handling the dog while grooming.

Days 9 to 12
You will now be able to professionally bath and dry your won dog ready for trimming work. With the knowledge and experience you are gaining on breed standards you will continue to improve your styles and trimming of the most popular breeds.

Days 13 to 16
By now you will be able to complete dogs with little or no supervision and make decisions on what is required for the grooming process including shampoo and conditioner, tools needed and methods used to complete the style.

Near the end of your course you will be assessed on all stages of grooming, which is of the same standard as level 2 City and Guilds in dog grooming plus the extra practical work you have covered.(this is not a City and Guild course)
