Domestic Electrical New Entrants Programme

This programme is aimed at those who have some knowledge and skills gained within a related electrical, mechanical or engineering arena, and wish to enter in to the domestic electrical industry as a domestic electrical installer. This 4 week programme is delivered at both our Northolt and Basildon centres as listed below:-

Week 1 - Basic electrical theory, principles, legislation and safety

Legislation
Health & Safety in the workplace
Electrical safety
Circuit principle
Supply systems
Over current devices
Wiring systems and terminations

Week 2 - EAL Domestic Electrical Installer

Applicable Building Regulations
Electrical Safety legislation, regulations standards and terminology
Safe isolation procedures
Pre work survey/inspection
Identification of unsafe electrical situations
Earthing and bonding requirements
Cable and component selection
Installing and/or rerouting cables

Week 3 - EAL Domestic Electrical Installer

Lighting installations
Installation and replacement of electrical components
Checking the correct and safe operation of installed electrical components
Electrical test procedures
Recording of electrical test results and completion of certification
Special locations
New circuit requirements
Maintenance
Basic understanding of 3 phase supplies
EAL Level 2 VRQ assessments and exams

Week 4 - City & Guilds 2382-10 17th Edition Wiring Regulations including;

Regulative requirements
Scope and objectives of the Regulations
Fundamental requirements for safety
Definitions and terms used in the Regulations
Protection for safety and how this is achieved
Correct methods of selection and erection
Requirements for special locations
Inspection and testing should be carried out
How to use the Regulations in the design, construction and maintenance of installations
City & Guilds 2382-10 GOLA exam

All testing equipment (Megger), documents and tools are provided for your use during the course. Further courses can be added to this programme including City & Guilds 2391 Testing, Inspection and Certification and 2377 PAT testing.
