Domestic Energy Assessor - DEA Course - City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma - 6020-01 Training Course

With the introduction by the Government for landlords in England and Wales to now have a Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for self contained rented domestic properties with new rental agreements as from the 1st October 2008, the demand for qualified Domestic Energy Assessors is growing. Gas Logic is offering the City & Guilds 6020-01 Level 3 Diploma for Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA), which is one of the required qualifications for those wishing to be able to supply Domestic Energy Performance Certificates. Once a candidate has achieved the qualification they will be required to register with one of the recognised accreditation bodies listed on government website .uk/planningandbuilding and will then be able to offer this service to their customers. It is also a requirement that as part of the sale of any property in England and Wales a Home Information Pack must be produced by the seller and must include an EPC.

The course will involve the candidate attending the centre for training for 5 days initially, and then they will build a portfolio by carrying out surveys within designated property and construction types, and producing example certificates. These properties could be friends and families so long as they meet the criteria. Included within the initial week will be visits to 2 properties near by to carry out energy assessments as part of the portfolio building, the candidates will then carry out another 3-5 on their own after the course. At the end of the training there is a GOLA online exam which is 1 ¼ hours.
