About this course
No formal entry requirements. Candidates should have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles and experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade.

The course is linked to an assessment leading to a certificate of competence for successful candidates. The course reiterates current regulatory requirements for domestic properties as well as covering older practices and wiring systems (often found on older properties). The course also shows how to correctly compile and then summarise the NICEIC Domestic Periodic Inspection Report.

Techniques & Knowledge for Inspection and Testing of Existing Domestic Installations:
- Current legislation and health and safety requirements
- Practical hands-on electrical testing
- Essential electrical inspections and tests
Understanding the requirements of Completing Domestic Period Inspection Reports:
- The important factors to be established prior to carrying out periodic inspection reports
- Visual Inspection of domestic properties to BS7671 including current regulatory compliance and older wiring systems and components
- Guidance on compiling the Report, and the reporting code system
- Recommendations on summarising the findings within the Report
