This is an intermediate to advanced course for those wishing to build on existing skills and develop their drawing and painting in traditional portraiture methods. The class will focus around both preparatory drawing and working towards one or more final oil paintings. You will work primarily from observation of portrait models.

Prepare a surface for painting a portrait
Mix colours successfully from observation
Improve your rendition of tone in portrait painting
Develop a finished piece or pieces from preparatory drawings/sketches to finished painting.
All basic materials are provided for the course
Students may wish to purchase a canvas or board for the portrait painting element. Your tutor will advise you about this during the class..
