2. Course description The course will establish a range of basic methods of drawing & painting through the use of sketchbook, photographs, found images or direct observation. There will be a life model (clothed) available for 1 week each term. You will learn to distinguish the use of tone, colour, composition and perspective, gain confidence in using both drawing and painting materials. There will be access to one to one support and you will be encouraged to take part in group discussionsThe overall aim is to help you develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques.

3. Entry requirements All Abilities. Those with some experience of painting would be helpful but this is not essential. Useful for those who are needing a refresher as well as those with little experienceWe welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. Please let staff know if you require any extra support when you enrol and they will arrange for a member of the Supported Learning Team to contact you to discuss your support needs. Surrey Adult Learning values and supports equality and diversity by promoting fairness and respect at all times. 4. Equipment required Bring whatever painting materials you may already have purchased, a pad of A3 cartridge paper, soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), soft rubber and/or a graphite stick for the first session.
